Author Rhea Tregebov || Vancouver Headshots

I photographed Author Rhea Tregebov in her ‘back yard’, which was a large, lush oasis in the City of Vancouver.
Rhea, celebrated for her poetry, novels and enchanting children's literature, has penned five picture books, including the popular "Sasha" series featuring her son. With translations of her works into French and Danish, she captivates young audiences worldwide.
Based in Vancouver, she shares her creative flair as a Writing instructor at the University of British Columbia.
As a fellow lover of storytelling through imagery, I had the joy of working with Rhea to create these beautiful portraits together for her new book.

What to wear for your Headshot Session

Selecting the ideal attire for your headshot session can be a challenging decision.
Here are some tips and visual suggestions to help you choose the outfit you will feel fabulous and confident in.

WEAR SOLID AND NEUTRAL COLOURS
Solid and neutral colours like black, grey or brown are a good choice for your headshot because they’re timeless. Your headshot won’t looked dated in a few years when styles change.

Avoid wearing all white as our eyes are attracted to the highest contrast in an image and the focus will be off your face. If you want to wear a white shirt, wear a suit jacket to break it up.

MIX IT UP
Bring a few outfits that are casual and professional or different colours and tones. This will give you variety when choosing an image to use for any occasion.

ACCESSORIZE
As always, keep it simple and timeless so you can use your headshot for a few years.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE FUN
Have fun showcasing your wonderful personality with your outfit choices.

AVOID WEARING
Clothing with writing or logos.
Florals, polka dots, stripes or checkered patterns.
Low-cut neck lines and turtleneck sweaters.
Fluorescent colours such as pink as they cause a colour cast on skin.

OVERALL
Wear well-fitted freshly pressed clothing that you feel comfortable and confident in.
If playful and colourful is part of your brand then go for it!

Stanley Park Family Portraits || Vancouver, BC

This family is awesome and showed up all in plaid! They love spending time together, and it's evident that Brother and Sister are the ultimate dynamic duo. I've been their photographer since big brother was just a few months old.
This Fall, we met at Stanley Park for another family portrait session, and have the kids grown!
It was all giggles and goofiness capturing those real family moments. Brother and Sister are actually Besties, but it was fun getting them to wrestle it out a bit for some cute sibling rivalry portraits.
Their sessions are always so enjoyable, full of cute kid moments and the kind of family love that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

East Vancouver Family Portraits | Trout Lake Park

This has become a cherished tradition the past four years. Every fall around the same time, we meet at Trout Lake Park to create a new birthday portrait for the wall in their home.
You can see their relationship deepen and the happiness radiating from these moments is heartwarming to capture. The sessions are filled with laughter and sweet moments, turning their walls into a gallery of beautiful memories.

Mustafa Akhtar || West End Vancouver Headshots

I recently photographed Vancouver Realtor Mustafa Akhtar in Vancouver’s West End neighbourhood.
Mustafa serves clients in the West End and wanted to utilize some of the older buildings for his new branding images.
Collaborating and getting to know him was a pleasure. As we walked through the neighborhood, he shared stories about the history of some of the older buildings and why he loved them.

I worked with Belle to get Headshots done… it was not only fun to do the shoot with her, but the results are fantastic.

Kids up Front Vancouver | Move than a Movie

Kids Up Front Vancouver provides enriching experiences, including arts, culture, and sports events, to deserving children and youth.
I was invited to capture the pure joy on the faces of over 1,000 kids and their families at their annual ‘More Than A Movie’ event. I had a blast chasing kids around while they kicked soccer balls, threw footballs and baseballs, and hung out with mascots from the BC Lions, the Bandits, and the Whitecaps. To end the event the children and their families were treated to watching The Little Mermaid on the world’s 2nd largest screen.

Kate Pierre || Granville Island Headshots

Kate Pierre is the owner and designer at KATE&FRANCES DESIGN.
Kate is a visionary who couldn't find the clothing she desired to express her true self. Her vision came to life in the form of versatile, body-friendly dresses that exude style and comfort. In fact, she’s wearing one of her designs in these portraits.
Kate contacted me to create portraits to launch a new career path and website. Her services will be a kaleidoscope of fashion industry consulting, career advice, and education—all rolled into one stylish package.
The portrait setting couldn't have been more perfect. Granville Island's vibrant atmosphere, with its colourful textured walls, provided an ideal backdrop for capturing Kate's personality.
As Kate prepares to unveil her new Fashion Consultant website, I can't help but feel proud to have played a part in this visual storytelling experience with her.
