East Vancouver Family Portraits || Rupert Park

Extended family sessions take a bit more planning, and they are so worth it. This lovely extended family of two sisters coordinated their clothing to match the cherry blossoms blooming in Vancouver. It was my first time photographing in Rupert Park and I discovered a gorgeous huge cherry blossom tree to pose them under.

Jericho Beach | Vancouver Family Portraits

This family always brings a mix of adorableness and a little chaos to their family sessions—and that’s exactly why I love working with them!
For this year’s photos at Jericho Beach, they came dressed in matching red and grey outfits, with their lovable pup happily tagging along.
Their ability to let loose and have fun always results in the most authentic and heartwarming photos.

Jericho Beach | Vancouver Family Portraits

One of my greatest joys is to document how my families grow.
It's that time of year again—Annual Family Portrait time—and WOW, have they grown since last year’s session HERE!
We met at their favourite local park, a spot that’s become a cherished backdrop for these moments. This year, they decided to ride their bicycles to the session because the oldest was excited to proudly show me her new bike. It was touching to see how much she wanted to share this moment with me.
From their wedding day to now, it's been so much fun to document their journey.
These sessions are more than just photographs; they’re a tradition that marks the passage of time, the growth of a family, and the little moments that make life beautiful. Every session is a reminder of why I love what I do—capturing the unique joy and love of each family I work with.

What to wear for your Family Session

Here are some of my beautiful families to offer visual tips for choosing the perfect outfits for your family session.

Choose a base colour

Decide on a base colour and have everyone wearing different shades and tones of it.
This will add dimension to your portraits and express everyone’s personality.
Avoid wearing too many patterns as this will make your portrait busy. Have everyone in mostly neutral and solid colours.
Avoid green if your session is in nature. Avoid everyone wearing all white as our eyes are attracted to the highest contrast in an image and the focus will be off your wonderful faces.

Have fun with the footwear

You can coordinate everyone wearing sandals or Van’s in the summer and gumboots in the Fall. Shoes should be as clean as possible.

Don’t put Baby in the corner

Dress your children in a lighter or darker tone than you so they stand out against the clothing you’re wearing.

It’s all about the Fun!

Remember, it’s all about having fun with your family and enjoying your session.
Wear clothing you feel comfortable in and focus on enjoying the playful moments with your family.

Stanley Park Family Portraits || Vancouver, BC

This family is awesome and showed up all in plaid! They love spending time together, and it's evident that Brother and Sister are the ultimate dynamic duo. I've been their photographer since big brother was just a few months old.
This Fall, we met at Stanley Park for another family portrait session, and have the kids grown!
It was all giggles and goofiness capturing those real family moments. Brother and Sister are actually Besties, but it was fun getting them to wrestle it out a bit for some cute sibling rivalry portraits.
Their sessions are always so enjoyable, full of cute kid moments and the kind of family love that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

East Vancouver Family Portraits | Trout Lake Park

This has become a cherished tradition the past four years. Every fall around the same time, we meet at Trout Lake Park to create a new birthday portrait for the wall in their home.
You can see their relationship deepen and the happiness radiating from these moments is heartwarming to capture. The sessions are filled with laughter and sweet moments, turning their walls into a gallery of beautiful memories.
